-I have no idea how I won. There must be some alternate condition that I hit. I definitely should not have won. My current theories: casting a lot of spells, casting spells from many different groups, casting spells with 2hr up, random dumb luck.

Well, there's some good news. Did my BLU AF quests 1, 2 and 3 with some minor annoyances from having to wait for JST midnight between them. But the annoyance of that pales in comparison to the rage brought on by the phenomenon of Imperial Silk Cloth. Required for both AF body and legs, it is (as far as anyone knows so far) only obtained by a desynthesis of a rare drop off of a level 80 or so monster. (for the FFXI-unfamiliar, the player level cap is still 75)

Oh, but wait! The cloth isn't Rare or Exclusive, just buy it off the auction house! 3 million gil a pop. That's 6 million for two pieces of ARTIFACT ARMOR.

For armor that is level 54 and 58. And Blue Mage is the only one with the honor of such a rare item being required. Corsairs' and Puppetmasters' armor are far easier to obtain the materials for. Already seen plenty of them in full or near-full AF.

I think this is the maddest I've ever been at this game. We waited so long to get our AF implemented, and this is what we get?

The best part is this:

The artifact quests are continuations of the previously available "An Empty Vessel," "Luck of the Draw," and "No Strings Attached" quests. Like the artifact quests for other jobs, there will be three quests for each new job that the player must complete in order to attain the artifact weapon and two pieces of armor.

The other three pieces of artifact armor will not be available in coffers, but instead can be obtained by a new method. The Aht Urhgan areas are for high-level players, and placing coffers in these areas would make the artifact quests significantly more difficult than those for the other jobs.

This is EASIER??!! I need a whole party of 75s, likely hours upon hours to get the drop, and the luck to not have it crit fail(which most desynths do).

I really would take a coffer. Anywhere in Arrapago, Halvung, or Mamook. I bet it'd still be easier.
